I am pleased to announce the Panel for the Independent Review of the Australian Public Service has today called for public submissions.
As Chair of the Panel, I encourage all Australians to take part in this process and have your say on the future of the Australian Public Service.
All Australians interact with the Australian Government at some point in their lives. Whether you are part of the APS, are in business, a community organisation, or someone who uses government services, you will have an opinion on how the public service should serve the public—and we want to hear it.
The world has changed a great deal over recent decades, and it will continue to change at a rapid pace. When the Prime Minister announced the Independent Review he recognised that we must be ready to seize the opportunities presented by global social and economic trends, by new innovations, technologies and ideas.
Our public service has a vital role, and this review is about making sure the APS is fit-for-purpose to serve Australia—not just now, but into the future.
Australia is best served by a public service that is innovative, professional, agile and efficient. To understand what Australians need and want from their public service, we will consult widely and engage with citizens, academia and civil society.
The Panel is also looking forward to gathering the views, experiences and ideas from right across the service as we take on this important work.
The closing date for submissions is 11.59pm AEST Friday 13 July 2018.
